Washington County Board of County Commissioners to Host Blood Drive; Commissioners Authorize Employees to Participate During Working Hours
WASHINGTON COUNTY, FL - In an effort to increase local blood supplies and lead by example, the Washington County Board of County Commissioners will host a blood drive on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM CST. The OneBlood "Big Red Bus" will be stationed outside of the Government Annex Building, located at 1331 South Boulevard, Chipley, FL.
While blood donation is a critical need, OneBlood reports that only 3% of those eligible actually donate. In a show of support for this life-saving cause, Washington County Commissioners are making it easier for their workforce to contribute. The Board has authorized county employees to donate during their regular shifts without using personal leave.
As an incentive, the OneBlood Organization will provide donors with a $20 eGift Card, Long-sleeved T-shirt, and Wellness Checkup including blood pressure, pulse,
temperature, iron count, and cholesterol screening to donors. These gifts may vary, hold no cash value, and are non-transferable.
