THE MEMBERS OF THE WASHINGTON COUNTY FIRE RESCUE SHALL STRIVE TO PROTECT THE LIVES AND PROPERTY OF THE CITIZENS OF THE COMMUNITY THROUGH FIRE SUPPRESSION SERVICES, PRE-FIRE PLANNING AND EDUCATION. WE WILL SERVE THE COMMUNITY TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITIES AND TRAINING. WE ARE COMMITTED TO CONTINUOSLY IMPROVING OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROPERTIES OF FIRE AND THE FIRE PREVENTION NEEDS OF OUR RESIDENTS, THE COUNTY OF WASHINGTON, THE SURROUNDING COUNTIES AND THE STATE OF FLORIDA.

This two-page guide provides essential fire safety tips to help families prepare for a home fire emergency. It covers the importance of testing smoke alarms, sleeping with bedroom doors closed, creating and practicing a home fire escape plan, and knowing what to do during a fire—including staying low to avoid smoke, calling 9-1-1 once safely outside, and using the "Stop, Drop, Cover, and Roll" technique if clothing catches fire. The second page includes a printable grid for drawing a personalized home fire escape plan, identifying exits, smoke alarms, and a designated outdoor meeting place.
